Q. How do I get a book or journal through Inter-Library Loan?
First, ILL requests that patrons confirm the book or journal is unavailable through the UIUC or iShare catalog.
You can check for your book or journal by using the link below:

The screen should look like the graphic below:
Search criteria include keywords, title, author or ISBN.
Search using the iShare option for the catalog, Select that option in the drop-down menu.
If the book or journal is unavailable through UIUC or iShare, then a request for an Inter-Library Loan is an option. Just be aware that the book or journal may not be available via this service either due to restricted use or other similar restraints.

Be prepared to provide as much detail as possible so the ILL staff can search for the item needed.
If a chapter or journal article is needed, those requests tend to be filled using a PDF of the item. In which case, the request is filled quicker than obtaining most books.
